Haiti 2010

In June 2010, I went to Haiti with 410 Bridge, an organization that helps communities in Africa and Haiti develope self-sustaining systems in five areas: drinking water, education, healthcare, micro-enterprise and spiritual development. Our team of 14 worked on two homes owned by women whose husbands had been killed in the January 2010 earthquake. We worked along side Haitian builders hired by 410 Bridge. We also spent a lot of time playing with the neighborhood kids. I highly recommend 410 Bridge if you are interested in serving in Africa or Haiti and like the idea of a support model that employs and works along side locals, not just for them. The earthquake, or "The Event," as it is called in Haiti, killed at least 230,000 people, injured over 300,000 and left another 1,000,000 homeless.
