Pictures from the 2005 Peach Bowl

Dad and I have always been Alabama football fans. I became a TRUE college football fan, however, in 1992, while attending my first college game in Knoxville, TN (coincidentally, that's also when I developed a disdain for the Vols). Alabama went on to its 7th straight win over Tennessee that day and finished the season with its 12th National Championship.

I didn't have an opportunity to attend another game until 1999, when my brother-in-law took me to the Alabama-Auburn game in Auburn (he's an Auburn alum...one of the best Auburn fans I know). I watched Shaun Alexander beat Auburn that evening, a game I'll never forget (and my brother-in-law probably won't either...I probably wasn't the most humble visitor he's ever given his tickets to...I'll blame it on my immaturity).

My dad and I attended our first college game together in 2000 in Tuscaloosa, AL. We watched Alabama beat Lou Holtz's South Carolina Gamecocks.

In 2002, I won SEC Championship tickets through their lottery system. I've been fortunate enough to hang on to them since. My dad and I try to attend every year, unless there's too much orange in the stadium.

The tickets went to my father-in-law this year, a deserving Georgia fan (and Georgia didn't disappoint him), while I was in Africa. But my dad and I didn't miss out. We got to attend the Peach Bowl and watch a very nice shellacking of Miami by our second favorite SEC team, LSU.

I hope we get to see a thousand more games together. Click here for pictures from the game
